JUL MED RØDOVRE CONCERT BAND, TUVA OG JOACHIM
Sanger-ægteparret Tuva Semmingsen og Joachim Knop gæster Rødovre Concert Band med dirigent Klaus Tönshoff i spidsen, og publikum kan se frem til både en klassisk dansk jul med Nøddebo Præstegård, samt Kaya Brüels danske oversættelse af giganthittet fra 1944 Baby it's Cold Outside. Dertil swingende rytmer med uropførelse af Peter Jensens imponerende Merry Swing...and all that Christmas og mange flere overraskelser.
Orkesterets egen trompetist Felipe Enselmann spiller virtuose lækkerier for os.

Atter i år byder Danmarks bedste concertband til stemningsfuld julekoncert med danske klassikere og internationale evergreens. Whitacre og Ticheli sørger for det eftertænksomme, danske Peter Jensen leverer en imponerende uropførelse, som med garanti er umulig ikke at komme i julestemning af - og der er forførende juleduetter med årets solistpar: Operasangerne Tuva Semmingsen og Joachim Knop. Og fra orkesterets egne rækker spiller Felipe Enselmann virtouserier for solotrompet.
Alt sammen under ledelse af dirigent Klaus Tönshoff.

About the band
The Danish Concert Band is a band that develops constantly - both in regards
to the individual players, but also because the band loves exploring new music, challenges and targets. Because of the great opportunities this band offers, it
attracts some of Denmark's future professional musicians. The band then
benefits from their talents as both a band member but also as a soloist. The
Danish Concert Band has very enthusiastic amateur musicians and is proud to
be in the high end of Danish amateur music.
The band has a unique community feel due to the fact that it is a band which
contains multiple generations and friendships between all ages. Those relations
are strengthened when the band travels throughout Europe, giving concerts and participating in festivals.
The Danish Concert Band was founded in 1968 and today consists of 65 players.
The band is economically supported by the municipality of Rødovre. The
municipality has supported the band from the very beginning. For recordings
and tours the band is supported by public and private foundations.
The band regularly participates in competitions and has achieved the
Danish Championship, the Nordic and the European Championship.
Latest in 2023, where the band won the Danish Championship and the orchestra has
therefore been the danish representative in the European Championship in 2024 in Oslo, Norway.
The band has four annual concerts in Kulturhuset Viften in Rødovre. The
summer concert is held in the Concert Hall at Tivoli Gardens. Generally, you
will experience at least one soloist at the performances. These soloists will be
one of the band's players or a professionel musician.
International collaboration
The Danish Concert Band collaborates with both Danish and international
composers, where the close collaboration with the Dutch/American composer
Johan de Meij is worth mentioning, as well as the good collaboration with the
Danish composer Søren Hyldgaard. These collaborations has lead to several
premieres in Denmark and other very exciting projects.
The conductor
The clarinetist and conductor Klaus Tönshoff (born 1975) began his career in the Tivoli Youth Guard in Copenhagen and is educated at The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music with further studies in Karlsruhe, Germany and Cleveland, Ohio.
Since 1999 Klaus has been member of the clarinet section in The Danish Symphony Orchestra. Klaus is among the most sought-of instructors for wind bands in Denmark and has been Music Director for the Tivoli Youth Guard from 2013-2023. Klaus has conducted various ensembles and professionals orchestras - among others The Danish Symphony Orchestra.
Klaus Tönshoff is censor at The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music (clarinet and chamber music) and has been present in several jurys in auditions for young wind musicians. Klaus has received a number of danish awards for his effort in danish music life.
Klaus Tönshoff has from 2024 been the Artistic Leader and Conductor for The Danish Concert Band.

Rødovre Musikskole, address: Rødovre Parkvej 128.
